A year long celebration, on the 10th anniversary of TCLF’s founding, to recognize others who share our vision of "stewardship through education." Throughout the year, under the celebratory umbrella of TEN 4 TEN, TCLF will bestow Stewardship Excellence Awards on ten individuals across the nation and, as such, will place a spotlight on those stewardship stories that have the power to educate and inspire future generations of cultural landscape stewards.
May + December 2008
The Cultural Landscape Foundation (TCLF) is pleased to announce that they have joined the National Park Service, University of Virginia, the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, and the George Wright Society in co-sponsoring the national conference, Designing the Parks. To be held in Charlottesville, VA, and San Francisco, CA, in 2008. The two-part conference will examine the design of buildings and landscapes in regional, state, and national parks.
May 9-10, 2008
The Cultural Landscape Foundation is pleased to offer this inaugural excursion to private gardens and parks designed by Royston over the last half century. The tour has been “curated” by the master landscape architect Robert Royston and Royston-biographer J.C. Miller. Proceeds will benefit the production of TCLF’s Oral History module dedicated to the life and legacy of Robert Royston.
October 4-5, 2008
TCLF will conduct its fourth annual Silent Auction in support of the Pioneers of American Landscape Design initiative at the 2008 meeting of the American Society of Landscape Architects in Philadelphia. This year’s auction will again include sketches, paintings, photographs, books, clothing, garden furniture, and other ephemera executed by notable landscape architects and artists.
November 2008
In November 2008, TCLF will announce the 2008 Landslide selections: Marvels of Modernism, at a launch party and series of exhibition openings. The selected sites will be honored on the TCLF website and featured in Garden Design. TCLF will also highlight the winning entries in an exhibit of original photography curated by George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film and multiple signboard exhibits to be displayed across the country.
November 13-15, 2008
This conference will look at where Modernist ideas in landscape architectural practice are today. Presenters will explore this topic by showcasing the works of leading landscape architecture and garden design professionals to see what makes their work modern and how it is influenced by the earlier movement. The main conference will be held at the Chicago Architecture Foundation with associated events taking place throughout the city.
September 21 - 24, 2008

LND Digital Workshops offer training in the software used in today's landscape architecture, site development and civil engineering offices. These courses are focused on teaching digital rendering techniques for landscape and site design projects using SketchUp, Photoshop, and Illustrator with AutoCAD base material. The workshop material was created by landscape architects and is taught by landscape architects that have years of office experience as well as teaching experience at the university level (we are professors of landscape architecture at LSU). The workshops are 2-day hands-on training sessions in groups of 15 people or less. Each person is working at a computer so that you can "learn by doing", which in our experience is the best way to learn software. Click for more information and schedule
